How to Find and Support Black-Owned Businesses

It is increasingly important to support Black-owned businesses right now. Our country is created around the promotion of white businesses and uplifting white communities while the Black and minority communities suffer. So buying from Black-owned places is not just about supporting Black business owners, it is about supporting the Black community, a community that has a long history of being marginalized. Black people are not offered the same opportunities as white people and they are often times met with far more obstacles to overcome. This makes Black people more disadvantaged, so it is incredibly important to support Black-owned businesses whenever possible.

The average white family’s wealth is 12x that of the average black family. The racial wealth gap is a serious problem in America enhanced by redlining and job discrimination that is still prevalent today. I am not going to go into detail about all of the systemic oppression against Black people in America, I have talked about it many times in previous posts. It is important to note that Black people are honestly given less opportunities than white people so supporting Black-owned businesses is helping to close the racial wealth gap.
