I am working with the Anti-Racism Education Project (AREP) to help create a community dedicated to learning about and discussing anti-Black racism.
Our mission is to provide a space for people to learn about and discuss anti-Black racism while emphasizing a sense of community through accountability.
The founders and I will pick a topic / conversation starter each week that focuses on something around anti-Black racism (i.e. implicit bias in healthcare, reparations, Juneteenth, etc). We then provide everyone in the group with half a dozen or so resources so that they can educate themselves about the topic of the week.
We want to amplify Black voices so we do our best to pick resources created by Black people. We use articles, videos, podcasts, and more in order to accommodate various learning preferences.
Each week, everyone will be randomly partnered with another participant and it is their job to discuss the week’s readings with their partner. This is to create an open dialogue with someone that may have different experiences and insights than you.
